MassMu’s November “Do the Mu!”
Enjoy a free, family-friendly activity during an in-person Do the Mu at the Massillon Museum on Saturday, November 5, led by instructor Susan Scheetz. Stop by the Museum between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. to learn about the art of Zentangling and create your own Zentangled turkey! All supplies will be provided.
Instructor Susan Scheetz, a retired educator, taught 35 years at Fairless Local Schools, the last 22 in fourth grade. Scheetz received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kent State University. She attended a Zentangle® workshop in 2012 to learn a new skill to share with her students.
Zentangle® is a form of drawing developed by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts. It takes doodling to a new level, resulting in intricate patterns that create beautiful works of art. Engaging in this process has been shown to provide cognitive benefits and calm the mind.
Do the Mu is a monthly drop-in, hands-on intergenerational outlet for creativity. The Massillon Museum receives operating support from the Ohio Arts Council and ArtsinStark. This workshop is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Guests on November 5 can view Missing History of Massillon: Unheard African American Stories; Artwork by Members of the Boys and Girls Club of Massillon; Barrie Kaufman: A Fragile Environment; “Carry On”: A Century of Swing; and Collection Snapshot: Faces of Massillon Business. The Paul Brown/Massillon Tiger Football History Timeline, the American Indian Gallery, the Massillon History Gallery, the Immel Circus, Innovators of Massillon, and the Albert E. Hise Fine and Decorative Arts Gallery are always on display.
MassMu is located at 121 Lincoln Way East (Ohio Route 172) in downtown Massillon. It is now open during regular hours Tuesday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A visit is always free.
