The Canton Symphony Orchestra performs along with silent film “The Freshman”

In the spirit of celebrating Super Bowl weekend as well as giving a nod to their campus neighbor, the Canton Symphony Orchestra has planned a football-centric concert for February.  This concert features the silent film comedy The Freshman, one of many hits from silent film star Harold Lloyd.  The Freshman was originally filmed in the Rose Bowl in 1924, and quickly became a hit in the silent film world.  While the film plays on stage, the Canton Symphony Orchestra will perform the sound track to the movie, which features jazz and ragtime standards from silent movies popular at the time.  This movie experience takes place on Feb. 2, 2019 at 7:30pm at Umstattd Performing Arts Hall (2323 17th Street NW, Canton).  The concert is presented with support from The W. Henry Hoover Foundation.
For pre-concert festivities, the CSO will co-host a “Dinner and a Movie” Pre-Party.  This party features heavy hor d’oeuvres and a cash bar.  The pre-party takes place at 6:00 in Foundation Hall at the Zimmermann Symphony Center (adjacent to Umstattd Hall at 2331 17th Street NW – Canton).  Once the concert is over, Foundation Hall will remain open with a cash bar available to anyone wanting one last drink before the end of the evening.
Tickets for the concert range from $22 to $32 while tickets for the “Dinner and a Movie” Pre-Party are $15. All tickets are available online at www.cantonsymphony.org, by phone at 330-452-2094 or in person at the Canton Symphony Orchestra administrative offices in the Zimmermann Symphony Center at 2331 17th Street NW in Canton weekdays 9am-5pm.
Founded in 1937, the Canton Symphony Orchestra is a fully professional ensemble and organization dedicated to performing concerts that enrich, educate and entertain. Under the direction of Gerhardt Zimmermann, the orchestra performs classical, pops, holiday, and educational programs. Most performances are in Umstattd Performing Arts Hall at the Zimmermann Symphony Center 2331 17th Street NW, Canton, Ohio (adjacent to McKinley High School). Parking at the Zimmermann Symphony Center is free. For more information, please visit www.CantonSymphony.org.
