Billy Joel and Elton John both ruled the stage as performers and song writers at the piano. Their hits cross all genres of pop, even making it into Disney movies like The Lion King. The Canton Symphony Orchestra and the Canton Symphony Chorus bring back fan favorite Jeans ‘N Classics to pay tribute to this iconic pair in “Back to Back – The Music of Billy Joel and Elton John” on May 11, 2019 at 7:30pm at Umstattd Performing Arts Hall (2323 17th Street NW, Canton). The concert is presented with support from News-Talk 1480 WHBC, Mix 94.1, and The W. Henry Hoover Fund.
The Canton Symphony Orchestra joins forces with Jeans ‘N Classics, the same nationally known band that has partnered with the orchestra for popular concerts in the past such as Music of Queen and Music of Led Zeppelin. The set list includes popular hits like Tiny Dancer, Always A Woman and Piano Man. The evening will highlight the best of both of these pop stars, as well as featuring the Canton Symphony Chorus for some of the songs. Assistant Conductor Matthew Jenkins Jaroszewicz returns to the podium for this final pops concert in our season.
For pre-concert festivities, the CSO will turn our Foundation Hall into “The Piano Bar” with the help of WHBC and Mix 94.1. This VIP pre-party takes place at 6:00 at the Zimmermann Symphony Center (adjacent to Umstattd Hall at 2331 17th Street NW – Canton). For an additional $15, attendees will enjoy food, a cash bar, a DJ, local personalities and a chance to meet the band before the concert.
