The popular program that combines the spontaneous sounds of nature and people enjoying a park with the sounds of the orchestra starts off on June 27th with a concert at Sippo Lake Park. Summer Serenades in the Park is a free, family-friendly series of brass, woodwind, and string ensembles performing all over Stark County. Everyone is invited to bring your favorite picnic food, games, and blanket or chair and enjoy the setting and music. Our first concert of the series is at Sippo Lake Park, located at 5712 12th St NW, Canton, OH 44708. This concert, like all of our Summer Serenades, is an informal affair where the musicians often introduce their pieces before they perform, giving a little history about the music. If time allows, they sometimes talk briefly about their instruments and their careers as Canton Symphony Orchestra musicians as well. This concert will feature a Trombone Quartet, and will start at 6:30pm, lasting about one hour.
If any of our concerts are threatened by inclement weather, they will be moved into Foundation Hall, located at the Zimmermann Symphony Center (2331 17th St. NW, Canton 44708). Please check the cantonsymphony.org, starkparks.com, or call 330-452-2094 (CSO box office) or 330-409-8096 (Stark Parks’ phone line) to check for updates on concert locations.
