Nominate a Deserving Person or Group to Light Massillon’s Ceremonial Candle
 
 
Massillon’s Community Candlelight Walk on Sunday, December 3, 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., will be a self-guided stroll through downtown Massillon among luminarias and Christmas lights to visit eight historic churches and five community attractions. Stops include live music, storytelling, free refreshments, and entertainment. Free maps will available at any venue where walkers begin their routes.
 
The free public event will culminate in a musical program and Massillon’s traditional candlelighting ceremony at St. Mary’s Church beginning at 7:45 p.m.
 
The committee is now accepting nominations for individuals or groups who have contributed significantly to the community this year. The selected honoree will light the Community Candle during the finale at St. Mary’s.  Nominations will be accepted through November 6. 
 
Email nomination forms may be found and completed at https://forms.gle/4HfAK3vNpDJd7Zbd7. Paper nomination forms can be picked up at the Massillon WestStark Chamber of Commerce. Completed paper forms must be received in the Chamber office by November 6.

  • Priority will be given to events organized by or in support of local non-profit organizations. 
  • Event must take place in Stark County, Ohio.
  • Event must be arts, entertainment or culture related. 
  • Event must be open to the public. No private events.
  • Event can be free or ticketed but must include a link to a website or social media event where more information is available. 
  • Event must be submitted at least one week prior to the start date.
