The Massillon Museum will host open studio times in its ceramics facility beginning April 2. Registration is now open—contact Stephanie Toole, education and outreach manager, at 330-833-4061 x104.
The studio will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. to adults who have previously studied ceramics at MassMu or another institution. No instruction is available during Ceramics Open Studio. Ceramicists register for either Wednesday or Saturday.
Participants may use the studio for any amount of time during the open hours. The number of registrants is limited to allow maximum availability of the pottery wheels and studio equipment.
The monthly fee is $50 ($40 per MassMu member). New members are welcome at any time. Use of tools, wheels, glazes, and firing are included in the fee. Participants may bring their own clay or purchase a 25-pound bag from the Museum for $20.
Ceramicists interested in working offsite and paying a monthly fee to have their pieces fired in the MassMu ceramics studio can call Toole or visit MassillonMuseum.org for more information.
The Massillon Museum receives operating support from the Ohio Arts Council and ArtsinStark, as well as marketing support from Visit Canton. This project is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way East in downtown Massillon. A visit to the Massillon Museum is always free. Free parking is available on adjacent streets and in nearby city lots. For more information, call the Museum at 330-833-4061 or visit massillonmuseum.org.
