ArtsinStark kicks-off 2024 Campaign for the Arts

ArtsinStark, Stark County’s Arts Council, has kicked-off its 2024 Campaign for the Arts, themed “Art Builds Community.”

The kick-off included a celebratory event held Tuesday, March 12, at the Cultural Center for the Arts. The event rallied volunteers, donors, and community leaders to the organization’s mission of elevating the arts with a focus on education, well-being and vitality

The campaign kick-off was held at Cable Recital Hall with more than 100 guests in attendance, and featured performances by EN-RICH-MENT Drumline and Sing Stark’s Senior Sing Choir. The event also featured speakers from ArtsinStark, Canton Museum of Art, Canton City Schools SmARTs program, and more.

“We have kicked off an important campaign, one that will make a difference to so many people and organizations, right here in our community,” said interim CEO Emil Alecusan, who has been steering the organization since October 2023 while a search was conducted for a new CEO.

At the event, incoming CEO Maureen “Mo” Ater announced this year’s $1.4 million campaign goal, a 17-percent increase from 2023.

“Last year, a study was done by the National Center for Arts Research that ranked the Canton-Massillon community as the eighth most arts-vibrant mid-size community in the United States,” Ater said. “The arts have shaped our community. The arts have helped to grow our community. The arts have helped support our residents. With your help, we can grow even more arts-vibrant!

Donations to the campaign will allow ArtsinStark to continue its work in managing the Cultural Center for the Arts, funding Stark County’s major arts organizations through its ArtsBuild Grants, and creating project-based grant funding for nonprofits and artists through its ArtsImpact Grants.

Donations will also create opportunities for ArtsinStark to further initiatives in the areas of Art & Education, Art & Well-Being, and Art & Vitality, the three guiding pillars identified during the organization’s 2023 strategic cultural assessment.

The 2024 Campaign for the Arts runs through May 31, 2024. Donations can be made online at ArtsinStark.com.
