The Department of Theatre at The University of Mount Union will perform “Prospero’s Magic Island” November 14-November 17.
“Prospero’s Magic Island” is an interpretation of “The Tempest” by the legendary William Shakespeare.
In the play, a ship, containing the king of Naples and his party, is caught in a powerful storm and the ship wrecks. On land, Prospero, who has magically created the storm, watches as it envelops the ship. Throughout the play, Prospero plots to change what was done to him years ago and reclaim his seat of power.
Members of the cast include Lexi Cintron ’22, Abigail Collinsworth ’22, Reilly Davidson ’20, Elizabeth Domer ’20, Olan Domer ’23, Drew Kolek ’22, Olivia Morey ’21, Rose Morrison ’22, Juliana Sutliff ’21, professional actor Mark C. Thompson, Rachael Thorn ’21, Eva Wagner ’21 and Clay Yoder ’23.
Thompson is performing the role of Prospero as part of the Eckler Lecture Series. He will present the Eckler Lecture at 8:40 p.m. following the performance on November 14.
The 55-minute show is family-friendly and includes elements of magic and music throughout the production.
All performances will be held in the Giese Performing Arts Center Brush Performance Hall. Performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinee will begin at 2 p.m.
