MassMu’s Free February Do the Mu | Massillon Museum

MassMu’s Free February Do the Mu

Join the Massillon Museum and instructor Ke’Aunte Harris on Saturday, February 4, for an “I Am…About Me” Do the Mu. Stop by the Museum anytime between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m., with no reservations required. All ages are welcome and all supplies are provided.

This activity will help participants speak positively about themselves. On a canvas, each participant will create a sun and on the sun’s rays they will add words that describe who they are. Everyone will color their canvases, being as creative as they choose to be.

Harris is the executive director and founder of BeYoutiful Weirdo mentoring program, serving more than 100 girls in Stark County, and she runs a program called “Art & Conversation.” She taught for 15 years as a preschool teacher and now works in the Massillon City School District.

Harris is the author of A Positive Life Is a Happy Life: Motivation For You and Me and the One Girl One Woman One Goal: One Can Change the World in One Day workbook. She was the 2019 Ruby Award Winner and a 2019 Twenty Under 40 candidate. When she is not busy trying to make the world a better place, she enjoys reading, journal writing, and meditating.

Do the Mu is a free monthly drop-in, hands-on intergenerational outlet for creativity. The Massillon Museum receives operating support from the Ohio Arts Council, ArtsinStark, and the citizens of Massillon. This workshop is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Guests on February 4 can view the Soul Food and Collection Snapshot: Faces of Massillon Business exhibitions. The Paul Brown/Massillon Tiger Football History Timeline, American Indian Gallery, Massillon History Gallery, Immel Circus, Innovators of Massillon, and Albert E. Hise Fine and Decorative Arts Gallery are always on display.

MassMu is located at 121 Lincoln Way East (Ohio Route 172) in downtown Massillon.  It is now open during regular hours Tuesday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A visit is always free.
