MassMu to Host Two Artists’ Receptions on June 10
The Massillon Museum will host two concurrent artists’ receptions on Saturday, June 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Both are free and open to everyone. No reservations are required.
Sarah C. Blanchette’s textile and mixed media exhibition, All Shook Up, will open in Studio M that evening and continue through July 23, 2023. Blanchette is a photo-based fiber artist who works in the Detroit area. Through repetitive acts of hand and machine sewing and physical manipulations of the self-portrait, she documents her coming of age in a digital world while embarking on a journey toward growth and autonomy in womanhood. A MassMusings podcast interview with the artist will be posted at MassillonMuseum.org on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at noon.
The Canton Artists League reception will be held in the Fred F. Silk Community Room Gallery. Up to the Challenge is on display now and will continue through July 30. Artists in this show include: Peter Castillo, Paul DeGarmo, Sharon Dulabaum, Jeffrey Foltz, Jane Heater, Thomas Kilpatrick, Pam LaRocco, Natividad (Suni) Lopez-Ortiz, Nancy Michel, Michelle Mulligan, Robert Nicoll, Lori Perry, Irene Tobias Rodriguez, Nancy Shernit, Sherry Grace, Yvonne Walter, Lynn Weinstein, and Gail Wetherell-Sack.
When attending the receptions, visitors can also view Tigers vs. Bulldogs: Origins of a Historic Rivalry, the Paul Brown/Massillon Tigers Football History Timeline, Collection Snapshot: Faces of Massillon Business, the Immel Circus, the Local History Gallery, Innovators of Massillon; the Judith Paquelet American Indian Gallery, the Edward and Louise Mahoney Family Gallery, and Albert E. Hise Fine and Decorative Arts Gallery.
