MassMu to Host Annual Celebration in Art

MassMu to Host Annual Celebration in Art

Each year, the Massillon Museum exhibits artwork by area school children. The gallery becomes a huge splash of color and imagination. Art teachers in schools within and surrounding Massillon have been invited to submit artwork by their students from kindergarten through high school. The show will include more than 240 examples of two- and three-dimensional student creations. Art teachers from 25 schools have submitted artwork: Amherst Elementary School, Edison Middle School, Fairless Elementary School, Fairless High School, Fairless Middle School, Franklin Elementary School, Genoa Elementary School, IDEA House, Jackson High School, Jackson Memorial Middle School, Lake Cable Elementary School, Lohr Elementary School, Massillon Washington High School, Perry High School, Pfeiffer Intermediate School, Sandy Valley High School, Sauder Elementary School, Strausser Elementary School, TC Knapp Elementary School, Tuslaw Elementary School, Tuslaw High School, Tuslaw Middle School, Watson Elementary, and Whipple Elementary.

February 5 will also mark the opening reception for The Art and History of Soul Food, this year’s segment of My Community: Through the Eyes of the 21st-Century African American Child in the Fred F. Silk Community Room. Sponsored by the Kent Area (OH) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, the photography exhibition by fifth- to eighth-grade students will continue through March 19, 2023.

Exhibitions may be seen during regular Museum hours—Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Massillon Museum is accessible and free. Everyone is welcome.
