MassMu Brown Bag Lunch—History of Military Dog Tags & Fallen American Heroes

In honor of Memorial Day, the Massillon Museum’s May 24 Brown Bag Lunch program will feature Retired Major George Lemon, who will talk about the history of military dog tags and fallen military heroes. His program will begin at 12:10 p.m. and conclude at 12:50 to accommodate those who attend on their lunch hours.

Lemon’s passion for serving others and his strong leadership skills were honed during his career in the US Army and National Guard. He was a commissioned senior army helicopter pilot with more than 3600 hours of flight time. He commanded the 416th Engineer Aviation Unit, and was the 107th Armored Calvary Regimental Intelligence Officer.

A community leader who brings people together for positive change, Major Lemon has served on the boards of the Aultman Orrville Hospital, United Way, the Stark County Minority Business Association, the Aultman Health Foundation, and the Canton Museum of Art. This week [April 28] he was recognized by Women’s Impact as a “Community Trustee.”

Major Lemon has been chairman of the board for Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Stark State College Foundation, and the Aultman Foundation.  He recently served as general chairman of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival.

After 25 years with AMETEK, a Fortune 500 company, Lemon founded Technical Products Group, Inc., retiring as its president in 2007.

Admission to Brown Bag Lunches is free and no reservations are required. The Museum provides free cookies and coffee for attendees. Guests can purchase sandwiches, salad, and smoothies at Greatness Cafe in the Museum lobby or they can bring their own lunches.
