Northeast Ohio GENIUS PROJECT for Schools
Established in 2014 the NE Ohio Genius Project has hosted genius competitions for schools across Stark County and into Summit County. Our goals are lofty ones: To make every kid a genius — and Northeast Ohio the place every genius wants to live and learn.
The NE Ohio Genius Project for Schools seeks to ignite the inner genius of middle school students through a 9 week challenge. Touching on multiple academic standards including math, science, art and financial literacy which will inspire creative thinking, team building, and problem solving skills.
Participating schools will receive a sealed Genius Box in the spring semester containing all the materials needed to complete the challenge and an information packet. Participants also need the following:
- 1 Teacher (Genius Coach) to guide students and act as the liaison for AIS.
- Teams of 4-6 students grades 6-8 (limit 5 teams per building)
- 1-2 hours weekly to work on project; during science, math, art, or before or after school.
At the end of the 9 weeks, student groups representing their school will compete at The Genius Rally. The Genius Rally is the project’s culminating event held on week 10 in the Great Court of the Cultural Center for the Arts for all Genius Project finalists, teachers, administrators and family members. Free pizza and drinks are provided to all attending. During the 2 hour event projects will be judged, trophies will be awarded, families will cheer and all participants will go home with a small gift.
