Divergent Sounds: Folk Meets the Symphony

The Canton Symphony Orchestra presents an evening of “Divergent Sounds” this Thursday, May 2nd in Foundation Hall at the Zimmermann Symphony Center.  For this concert, we are featuring Massillon native Cody Martin with his combination of folk, blues and country music, and adding a string quartet of Canton Symphony Orchestra musicians. This groundbreaking new series has been a huge hit with fans of not only the orchestra and guest bands, but people interested in live, local music in Northeast Ohio.  This concert series is presented in collaboration with 91.3 The Summit and with the generous support of Mark & Beverly Belgya.
Cody J. Marin is a singer/songwriter from Massillon, Ohio.  He writes songs that rest where folk, blues and country music intersect.  The Massillon native has been performing his aggressive, fingerpicked tunes for nearly 5 years in both his home state and across the country. He is currently recording the follow up to his debut album, 2014’s “Somewhere You’d Rather Be.”
Our Divergent Sounds Series for this season has two more concerts.  After Cody Martin, the next concert Greco-Americana Meets the Symphony on May 23rd, featuring Youngstown artist Demos Papadimas.  Then on June 13th we will have 80s Indie Pop Meets the Symphony, featuring Akron group The Ledges.  All of these concerts are at 7:30 at the Zimmermann Symphony Center.
