Canton Symphony Orchestra’s Young People’s Concerts

The Canton Symphony Orchestra is proud to present another series of its Young People’s Concerts.  These concerts are a chance for some of our youngest fans to see a live orchestra concert, and learn while enjoying the concert as well.  This year’s Young People’s Concerts are on October 10 and 11, with a concert at 9:45am and 11am each day.  These concerts are put on through the generous sponsorship of The Hoover Foundation.

Each year the Canton Symphony Orchestra uses the Young People’s Concert to explore a different educational concept to present to young audience members in grades 3-5.  The goal is to introduce students to the orchestra and how music relates to other subjects in their education at school.  This year the program focuses on Ohio’s Learning Standards for English Language Arts as well as Music.  The CSO will demonstrate how common themes in two young reader books are also reflected through music.  The orchestra has teamed up with the Stark Library and community libraries in selecting the One Book One Community books as the base for this unique educational experience.  The program will include musical excerpts from composers such as Tchaikovsky, Elgar, Liszt and Bach.

All of the Young People’s Concerts are held in Umstattd Performing Arts Hall, located in the Zimmermann Symphony Center at 2331 17th St. NW, Canton, 44708.  These concerts are FREE to the public and students, but reservations are required.  Reservations can be made online at cantonsymphony.org, over the phone at 330-452-2094, or in person at our box office located at the same address.
