Canton Ballet dancer Tamaki Hoshi receives Joffrey Ballet scholarship

Nine Canton Ballet company members received scholarships at the Regional Dance America Northeast Festival held recently in Erie, Pa.  Tamaki Hoshi won a full year tuition scholarship with Joffrey Ballet of New York City valued at $20,900.

Hoshi is a St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Canton Ballet 2019 graduate.  She studied with School of Canton Ballet for 13 years.

 

Dancers receiving awards for summer study are:

GlenOak High School senior Margaret Kingsbury, New York Dance Project of New York City, value $2,250;

GlenOak High School junior Emily Kuntz, New York Dance Project, value $2,250;

Hoover High School junior Morgan Lineweaver, Commercial Dance Intensive of Richmond, Va., value $425;

Central Catholic senior Matalan Nikishin, Burklyn Ballet Theatre of Johnson, Vermont, value $500;

Lake Center Christian School 9th grader Leah Mellinger, Charlottesville Ballet of Charlottesville, Va., value $1,295;

St. Paul School 8th grader Annabella Purses, Colorado Conservatory of Dance of Broomfield, Colo., value $2,400;

Lake Center Christian School senior Natalie Schmitt, Ballet Magnificat! of Jackson, Miss., value $1,525; and

Hoover High School junior Caroline Zollinger, Louisville Ballet of Louisville, Ky., value $1,995.

 

Canton Ballet has been an honor company of Regional Dance America since joining its northeast region in 1980.  RDA Northeast is comprised of 11 member companies from across the northeastern U.S.

Cassandra Crowley is artistic and executive director of Canton Ballet.  Offices and studios are located within the Canton Cultural Center for the Arts.
