Canton Ballet Announces New Jazz Company Audition on May 19th

An audition for male and female dancers ages 12 and up for Canton Ballet’s new Jazz Company directed by Megan Seemann is set for Saturday, May 19, at Canton Ballet studios in the Cultural Center for the Arts, 1001 Market Avenue N. in Canton.  Registration opens at 1:30 p.m.  The audition will run 2-3:30 p.m.  Bring jazz shoes and use the Cleveland Avenue entrance.

The Canton Ballet Jazz Company program which begins in September will require enrollment in one jazz class, one tap class, two classical ballet classes and one rehearsal class per week.  There will be additional fees for costumes and performance opportunities.  Solo and small group work also will be available separately.

The preprofessional dance group members will receive training, opportunities for community engagement, dance performances for the public and some competition experience.

During her youth Seeman traveled to numerous dance conventions and competed extensively.
