Blue Star Museums Family Fun Month | Massillon Museum

The Massillon Museum is part of Blue Star Museums, which is celebrating August as Family Fun Month. The program offers free admission and/or discounts to active duty military personnel and their families. Admission to MassMu is always free to everyone, but military families can use discounts on classes, workshops, special events, and shop purchases.

For more information, contact Brandon Rohrer, the Massillon Museum’s guest operations manager, atbrohrer@massillonmuseum.org or 330-833-4061 x114.

Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and participating museums across America. For a list of participating museums, visit arts.gov/bluestarmuseums. The program is available for those currently serving in the United States Military—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps—and up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card to receive benefits from a participating Blue Star Museum.

Two August free events especially geared toward families are Fun Fest on Saturday, August 13, and Tiger-Striped Ice Cream Night on Wednesday, August 17.  Fun Fest will feature more than 80 free activities—games, music, crafts, athletic challenges, animals, trucks, clowns, giveaways, and more.  After the Tiger pep rally on  August 17, the Massillon Museum and the Massillon Tiger Football Booster Club will serve free orange and black ice cream cones.

The Massillon Museum receives operating support from the Ohio Arts Council and ArtsinStark and marketing support from Visit Canton. MassMu’s Blue Star Museum participation is among many programs supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Massillon Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. It extends its hours to 7:00 p.m. on the last Saturday of each month in collaboration with Massillon’s Last Saturday event.

Visit the Museum at 121 Lincoln Way East in downtown Massillon.  For more information, call 330-833-4061 or visitmassillonmuseum.org.
