ArtsinStark Live Continues with Music, Art, and Dance!

While so many public venues remained closed, the arts in Canton/Stark County have stepped up to help.  The County Arts Council has created “ArtsinStark Live” to help families stay informed and entertained, right from the comfort of their own home. Below is the schedule for “ArtsinStark Live” for Monday, March 30 – Friday, April 3.

First, each morning we suggest you start the day doing an arts activity like African dance, theatre games, and making cloud dough.

Next, throughout the day on ArtsinStark’s Facebook page we have concerts, classes, and storytelling.  Monday, join teaching artist Diane Kendig at 12pm for a SmArts lesson on journaling. “Getting our thoughts, feelings, and actions down during this time of sheltering may provide a terrific source of family history,” said Kendig. At 12pm on Tuesday it’s time for live music with a mini concert by Stark County musician Julian Curet. Wednesday at 12pm it’s time to dance with Players Guild actor and choreographer Brandon Leffler. Thursday, another dose of live music with a virtual Live at Lunch concert from The Scenic Route. And Friday it’s a SmArts Lesson with musician and teaching artist Patrick Masalko. Canton First Friday is going digital on April 3. Tune into the Canton First Friday Facebook page for streaming musicians, carryout specials for your favorite downtown restaurants, and online shopping from our Canton Arts District shops and galleries. Tune in to www.facebook.com/cantonfirstfriday

And every night you can finish up at 8pm on Facebook, or at 8:15pm on Instagram, hearing local actors and artists do dramatic readings of their favorite children’s books. This week’s lineup includes local artist David McDowell, Plain Local art teach Sarah Shumaker, and local actor and former Canton City Schools board member Mark Dillard.

Local museums are also doing special programs at noon Monday through Saturday on their Facebook pages.  On Mondays, McKinley Museum and Presidential Library (mckinleymuseum.org).  On Tuesday, Massillon Museum (massillonmuseum.org).  On Wednesday, Canton Museum of Art (https://www.cantonart.org/learn/Museum-To-Go).  On Thursday, National First Ladies’ Library (firstladies.org).  On Friday, Pro Football Hall of Fame (profootballhof.com). On Saturdays, Dennison Railroad Depot Museum: (dennisondepot.org)
