The Alliance Symphony Orchestra will perform a Pops Concert as part of the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival on Tuesday, August 6 at 7 p.m. in Brush Performance Hall in the Giese Center for the Performing Arts on the Mount Union campus.
This will be the first time the summer concert will be held indoors. In previous years, the Pops Concert was held during Days in the Park at Silver Park in Alliance.
The Alliance Symphony, under the direction of maestro Eric Benjamin, will delight the audience with a selection of favorite pops tunes including Rossini’s Barber of Seville Overture and Highlights from Porgy and Bess. The concert will also feature George Gershwin’s beloved American favorite, Rhapsody in Blue, with Mount Union faculty member Dr. Maira Liliestedt as piano soloist. There will also be a raffle for an audience member to conduct the finale – John Phillip Sousa’s The Stars and Stripes Forever.
The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Craig Henschen at 330-206-0747.
