NEWS RELEASE: All Together Now Family Returns September 10 to the Cultural Center for the Arts
Free event features live entertainment, music, food trucks, kids’ activities and more
CANTON, OHIO (August 17, 2022) — ArtsinStark, Stark County’s Arts Council, has announced the return of its popular All Together Now Family FunFest, a free family event, held Saturday, September 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine on the grounds of the Cultural Center for the Arts (1001 Market Ave. N., in downtown Canton).
All Together Now is a family-friendly summer festival that seeks to inspire a sense of joy, warmth and belonging for everyone attending the free event. A gathering of live entertainers, musical acts, dance groups and storytellers will perform for visitors throughout the day.
Entertainers include:
· Magician Rick Smith, Jr., a professional illusionist and card thrower from Cleveland, Ohio, will headline the festival. Smith is best known for his numerous nationally-televised performances, as well as his three world records for throwing a playing card the greatest distance, greatest height, and most accurately.
· Djapo Cultural Arts Institute, led by artistic director and 2022 Ohio Arts Council award-winner Talise Campbell, will perform a traditional African drum and dance show that will move the crowd to dance and clap along to its vibrant presentation of art.
· Amazing Giant’s Strawberry Circus will perform an uplifting show on the main stage with a positive message, circus and much more.
· Storyteller Lindsay Bonilla of World of Difference is a professional storyteller and author whose award-winning books have been featured in the Wall Street Journal. She performs multi-cultural folk tales in a unique and interactive style.
In addition to the live entertainment, there will be music, food trucks, face painting, balloon twisting, free make-and-take stations, a bubble station and much more for kids of all ages.
“Year after year, this community supports our advocacy, funding and support for the arts,” said David Whitehill, president and CEO of ArtsinStark. “Giving back to the community with a free, family festival is a fun and engaging way we can say ‘thank you’.”
ArtsinStark is producing the event at the Cultural Center for the Arts, a multi-purpose event and performing space the organization owns and operates. The organization has partnered with TomTod Ideas as a featured contributor to the event. TomTod Ideas will be contributing five activities designed to engage middle school students and their parents. TomTod Ideas, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is a youth development non-profit that listens to, honors and advocates for middle-school students.
In addition, Visit Canton, the local convention and visitors’ bureau, is a partner and sponsor for the one-day event.
Other organizations participating in the event include Artful Living and Learning, Canton Ballet, Canton Museum of Art, Canton Symphony, Massillon Museum, SAFY of Akron/Canton, SingStark!, and the YMCA.
Guests will have access to the parking deck located onsite. There are also street and surface lots surrounding the complex. The event will be held outdoors on the grounds of the Center and inside the Cultural Center’s Great Court and will occur rain or shine.
