2nd Annual Cruise in the ‘Ville adds Cruise Loop to Festivities

Cruise in the ‘Ville returns to Historic Downtown Hartville June 3rd with a twist, or a “loop” you may say. New this year is a Cruise Loop. Throwing back to a time where you’d jump in your car and go cruising to show off your wheels this event allows drivers and spectators to enjoy these classics as they were meant to be – in motion.

Beginning at 11am, drivers can park on Prospect Ave. to participate in a judged car show or just cruise throughout the day. The 1.5 mile route will be marked with signs. The car show includes cars of all makes and models and the $5 entry fee gives participants Dash Plaque Discounts at local businesses and makes them eligible for awards and door prizes. Following awards at 2:30pm participants can jump in the loop too.

“Think of the movie American Graffiti” says Eric Blandford, owner of HWC Automotive and show organizer, in reference to the new cruise loop and the nostalgic fun planned for the day. “We’re inviting visitors to bring lawn chairs and line the route to experience history in motion.” His repair shop is located in the historic district in what was a 1940’s service station and as he tells us, he doesn’t just work on classic cars, they are in his blood.

Hartville Lions Club will also be hosting their annual chicken BBQ dinner with local boy scouts serving as car hops for to-go orders. Tickets are available in advance at Best Bib and Tucker and the day of event until sell out. O’Reilly Auto Parts is not just sponsoring awards. They will join in on the fun by sending store managers from multiple area stores to volunteer and grill hot dogs for the crowd.

Don’t have a car to bring? Come enjoy the festivities. Many downtown shops will be open, the DJ will keep your toes tapping, and you’ll be able to meet former Cleveland Browns Linebacker Ed Bettridge.
